Amazon Identified For Imeson Park Distribution Warehouse
Amazon.coms Softlines category is identified on plans as the tenant for a 1 million-square-foot distribution center at Imeson Park in North Jacksonville.
Softlines is the online retailers category of apparel and shoes and also is a brand of Amazon footwear.
The city approved a permit July 31 for Evans General Contractors LLC of Savannah to build a $5.7 million warehouse foundation. The city issued a related foundation permit in November for $100,000.
The city also is reviewing a permit application for construction of the building at a cost of almost $41.2 million.
No job count is available, but plans call for more than 1,500 parking spaces for cars.
Plans identify the client as Amazon and the warehouse as Softlines JAX7, which appears to be Amazons code for the location.
The Seattle-based company operates two area fulfillment centers, JAX2 at Pecan Park Road in Northwest Jacksonville and JAX3 in Cecil Commerce Center in West Jacksonville a Westside sortation center and a proposed facility called AMXL HJX1 in Westside to handle heavy bulk freight.
It also operates last-mile delivery centers with similar designations. The Cabot Commerce Circle facility in North Jacksonville is DJX1 and the Blanding Boulevard site under development in West Jacksonville is DJX2. Another is in review in St. Johns County.
Amazon did not respond to a request for comment as of the afternoon of July 31.
