Remains Of Missing Man Found In Brownsburg Storage Unit Months After Son Charged With Murder

BROWNSBURG The remains of a man missing since 2019 were found in a Brownsburg storage unit last week, over three months after his son was arrested for his murder.

The Brownsburg Police Department reported the human remains were found inside a storage unit at the Ameri-Stor self-storage facility on N. Green Street on May 13.

The Marion County Coroner has identified the remains as Roger F. Farmer, 58. His cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Roger was reported missing on December 27, 2019, over a month after he was last seen at his home at 6757 Wandering Way.

During an investigation into Roger’s disappearance, detectives gathered information that led them to believe that he was deceased. They eventually gathered enough evidence to arrest his son, Jeremy Farmer, 35, for his alleged involvement in Roger’s disappearance. Jeremy was initially charged with murder, although Roger’s body had not been located.

The storage unit where Roger’s body was found had allegedly been rented by Jeremy in November of 2019, according to IMPD.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will now determine if additional charges are to be filed in the case.

The body of a man whos been missing for nearly 17 months was found last week in an Indiana self-storage unit rented by his son. Roger Farmer, 58, was reported missing on Dec. 27, 2019, when he didnt return from a supposed hunting trip. His 37-year-old son, Jeremy, was arrested and charged with the murder this past February, though the body hadnt been found. Investigators searched the unit at Ameri-Stor Self Storage in Brownsburg, Ind., which was rented in November 2019, only after someone at the facility became suspicious of the name on the lease and alerted police, according to the source.

We are extremely relieved that our father has been found and identified, the family said in a released statement. This is just the beginning of a new chapter, as we try to move forward and process these developing discoveries.

The Marion County, Ind., coroner determined Farmer died of a gunshot wound to the head and ruled his death a homicide, the source reported.

A large amount of activity was also discovered in Roger Farmers bank accounts after he went missing, including at least one that showed a negative balance, according to the source. Investigators believe video of a connected transaction at a hardware store shows Jeremy Farmer buying several cleaning items including heavy-duty wipes, germicidal bleach, drop cloths and a 96-gallon trash can with wheels.

Jeremy Farmer has been held in Marion County, Ind., Jail since Feb. 10.

The daughters reported their father missing when he didn’t show up for Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations in 2019. He was allegedly on a hunting trip, but the sisters became suspicious that their brother was sending messages from their father’s phone. The text messages had punctuation and emojis. Fred always used talk-to-text with one long run-on sentence.

Jeremy was also captured on video using his fathers debit card at a Lowes store on Nov. 18, 2019. He purchased heavy duty cleaning wipes, Febreze, a 96-gallon, two-wheel trash can, germicidal bleach, a Duracell flashlight, Venom brand latex gloves, extra heavy plastic drop cloths, and Tide detergent pods.

Jeremy was living with his father at his west Indianapolis home at the time of his disappearance. Fred was last seen on Nov. 22, 2019 at his home located at 6757 Wandering Way.

Court records indicate Fred’s bank account was emptied and credit cards were used after his disappearance. Jeremy changed his fathers account contact information to his own email.
